About

**Click "CONTACT" (or "MORE" then "CONTACT") at the top of this page to schedule this workshop for your group or organization.** Storytelling for impact often means sharing someone else's story. That's a responsibility to undertake with purpose, dignity, and transparency. Our 4-week Ethical Storytelling course covers everything you need to know to take a dignity-centered approach to story sharing, from initial contact with people about sharing their story through navigating revocable consent. You'll learn skills that are essential for anyone in advocacy or communications who wants to embrace the power of storytelling while prioritizing ethics and respect. The course is designed for advocates, organizers, nonprofit leaders, communications professionals, and creatives who work with real people’s stories. Together, we unpack questions of power, consent, agency, and cultural context to tell powerful, persuasive stories without exploiting trauma, reinforcing stereotypes, or putting people at risk. You'll learn: -The foundations of ethical storytelling in advocacy; -How to approach storytelling with in a way that builds trust; -How to honor both the people in the story and the people who hear it; -Best practices for obtaining, honoring, and managing revocable consent. All participants leave with concrete tools, worksheets, and guiding questions they can immediately apply so the stories they share are truthful, contextual, and dignified, and the people whose lives they depict feel proud of the final result. $400 per person; group discounts available.
